ManHanded, Hidden Code Words That Impact Men And The People Who Love Them  Book Review:

Congratulations to Dr. Oliver T. Reid for writing an uplifting book “ManHanded, Hidden Code Words That Impact Men”. This is the first book that I read by this Man of God, Dr. Reid. At this time we are living in the age when male masculinity is under constant attack. The purpose of this book being scribble by Dr. Oliver T. Reid is to dealt with the struggles of manhood and to  provide the readers especially the men sound advice to keep us on the road of a breakthrough.  As while I was reading this Inspiring book there was a quote that caught my attention, “Soon as the male child pushes his way out of his mother’s womb, the battle starts. The battle is over power, authority and realm. If the power of that man has gone rampant, it can be very detrimental to his well-being. What he need is accountability, and to be investigated by the strength of other men.”  In “ManHanded, Hidden Code Words That Impact Men”, there were messages that are power tools shared to help break or decipher codes in the lives of men. This powerful tools were provided from a man’s perspective but the Author doesn’t guaranteed that it will works for all men. For individuals to change then they will have to be vested in their own transformation or reconstruction as well as all those in their circle. I do believe if that you allow yourself to follow those powerful tools (Codes) that is outlined in this book, seek the guidance of God and buy into the concepts change will occur. I learn that God has encoded the male chromosomes from masculinity. We as men must be openly and willingly to participate for those codes work successfully. Those hidden code words that are spoken to man can unlock or close open the combination to the treasures of his heart. For me personally while reading this motivational inspired manual given me the  determination, gain confidence of, and finally given me deep understanding into the matter of contention in the lives of man. After reading “ManHanded, Hidden Code Words that Impact Men and The People That Loved Them”, I truly believe that men will be more empathetic about their identity. Also women will walk away with the knowledge after reading this Inspirational manual with a new understanding of the men in their life and the course of action  about how they communicate with them. Thank You Dr. Oliver for allowing the Lord to guide the pen in your hand to write the messages in the purpose of minister to the readers not only  in the lives of men but also the lives of women. This book may help to save someone’s relationship. Again I recommend this book for everyone to read for their own understandings. This book is also great for Men Bible Study Class.

But that’s no longer an option when tragedy strikes and the sisters are forced to deal with the past they’ve spent their whole lives trying to forget. With the help of a praying woman, the sisters begin to think emotional healing is a real possibility. Until, that is, they learn their mother had one final secret. A secret so earth shattering, only the grace of God will help them get through it.

He Restores My Soul Book Review:

I loved this narrative “He Restores My Soul” because it’s really a page-turner from the first page to the last page. It comes with phenomenal trend infuse at just the right points to accommodate timely unforeseen and maturity. The story is definitely Christian based; its overture of the Word of God is clearly to understands. Expression that proceed reasonably because of the circumstance at hand. Another thing that was really great was the Characters. They seemed real and convincing like in today’s world.  If you’re considering looking for a great story that moves right along, with surprises and really satisfying developments, I encourage you to read this Christian Novella. LaShonda Bowden created an awesome  story delivers powerfully with God’s ability and willingness to heal broken hearts and broken situations.

“He Restores My Soul” is a marvelously read, it really captured my attention immediately from the book cover. I loved the fact LaShonda didn’t sugarcoated and dragged it out. The character were real life Christians like you and I.  I can imagine and sense their personalities, fears, empathy while reading this narrative.  LaShonda provide insights into the reasons why the Langston Sisters behaved the way they did. Also the abused that Mahaila Langston gave to Kristina who is a famous singer turn to drugs, alcohol and other toxic behavior. It was messed up how the Langston Sisters were mistreated and abused by their mother Mahaila who was a Choir director. When she found out that Kristina was pregnant, she tried her best to beat Kristina almost to death. There weren’t no surprised that Kristina was so damaged that she didn’t want to live any longer. Mahalia should be protecting and love them unconditional. Mahaila wore a mask. At Church, she was a Christian but at home she was a hell raisers. This is such a heart-rending narrative that it may caused your eyes watery often.  Pam had to be the strong one in her entire life to be there for her sisters. Kristina was dealing with pain, griefs and betrayal that she wasn’t willing to let go. Tamia has such a beautiful spirit.Thank God that Pam and Tamika didn’t give up on Kristina. All three of them worked together to figure out why their mother act with regard to disrespect and not show them love at all. This is a lessons to everyone who is reading this book, Adults may not know the amplitude of how they can damage their son or daughter childhood and underestimate in this first series of the Langston Sisters’ narrative. I can relate their pain because I was physically and emotionally abused by my own father but I didn’t let him destroy me. He used to call me stupid and I didn’t pay any attention to him at all. I knew I wasn’t stupid and made him a liar. I knew some people who was hurt by their parents feel they could get back at their parents by getting hooked on drugs. The only person that they are hurting is themselves. While I was reading this book, I made sure that I meditate on the title “He Restore Me” to get a better understanding. Restore is the representation of replenish (to return to its original state). “Restoring My Soul” is the expression that LaShonda wants the readers know, God Keeps us going and gives the enjoyment of life back to us. It’s not some general or physical restoration. He restores my soul, is the conclusion. In the Book of Psalm, the 23rd Chapter, Green pastures and still waters are the direction God restores our souls. If we are willing to step back and let God speak to us, we’ll realize that our souls need His restoring. Finally, with His restoring, God would do what best for our good and His glory. I am now getting ready to read “Then Sing My Soul.”

About This Book:

Pregnant and unwed, Jojo was quickly dismissed from the church’s praise team, though the baby’s father (a choir musician) remained in his position thanks to his familial ties at church. Two years later, Jojo believes she’s paid the price for her choices and wants her spot back–after all, anyone who has ever seen her dance knows that she’s anointed to praise Him in the dance. But how long must one “sit down” before being reinstated? Isn’t a repentant heart and a humbled spirit enough?

Pastor Trigg wants to lead the church in the right direction, but the congregation seems quite divided about how to move forward with letting Jojo–who is still in high school–dance in the sanctuary. Will allowing her to dance set a bad precedent? Can the members forgive and forget? While trying to sort through what’s best for the church, his personal life seems to be a total bust. Will he ever find true love? This debut work deals with a sensitive topic while maintaining a uniquely humorous point of view. Jojo will have you laughing out loud and make you while the story line begs the question: Who gives whom the right to praise?

Practice What You Praise Book Review:

Candice Johnson present the reader a matter-of-fact  observation into legitimate life events that take place in the church. JoJo who is a sixteen year old teen who has a baby out of wedlock by the church praise and worship leader. She experiences so much judgement from her fellow Christians at her House of Worship. The characters in this narrative manifest real life church folks . The teen character “JoJo ” who is humble,  only wants to do one thing and that is give back to God with the gift of dance is instilled in her by God, but as she returns she faces much opposition and criticism from the church members, and some family members while they are getting ready for a dance production. With this situation it brings the Pastor in who also carries the burden of whether she should dance or remain seating due to the church folks nagging him, then you meet her mama who like most mothers don’t play about her children, love God but will put it down for hers. Even to the contrary, the character JoJo and her baby’s father were teenagers, they both took on the obligation of raising their child enthusiastically, battling the Devil’s warriors all along the way. Sometimes, they were more sophisticated than their parents. And JoJo groom to retain her focus on using God’s gift to minister through dancing to the congregation in the amplitude the Holy Spirit directed. You will laugh at the brilliance of the wonderful metaphors the author use, along with fussing at some of the characters  acting like they have never done anything wrong against God. You will empathize with JoJo and have respect for her. All in all this a great book that will capture you at the beginning and pull you right in as though you were there the whole time and could tell your own side and how you felt . But most of all you will see God wonderful grace and mercy shown, and what he means in scripture Romans 11:29 (KJV). For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Many thanks to Candice Y. Johnson for allowing God to guide the pen to create her first Christian Novella. She was able to take the issue of teen pregnancy and show how so many lives are affected. It also exemplify how self-proclaimed Holy Thou Christians can be so judgmental of others, while some are still dealing with their own consciences and trying to clutches if they’ve asked, they’ve already been pardoned or forgiven. Some so-called Church Folks are living in glass houses…. But, that was not the only message. Her exhortation was more of do unto others. And trust, there was a exhortation there underneath the compelling scribble.Even to the contrary, the character JoJo and her baby’s father were teenagers, they both took on the obligation of raising their child enthusiastically, battling the Devil’s warriors all along the way. Sometimes, they were more sophisticated than their parents. And JoJo groom to retain her focus on using God’s gift to minister through dancing to the congregation in the amplitude the Holy Spirit directed. I was really comprehensively absorbed in the characters and the plot from the first page to the last page. I’m anticipate for Epiphany’s sequel and maybe Pastor Trigg? I will definitely advocate this book to those individuals fascinated with an unique writing style that deliver out all variety of reader excitement—from anger to laughter.

About This Book:

The old saying is true. You never know what’s going on in someone else’s home. From the outside looking in, Yolanda Clarke appears to have it all. She’s a beautiful woman, and her husband, Timothy, is the pastor of BrightStar Tabernacle. They seem to have the perfect life. But, looks are certainly deceiving. Yolanda has become a puppet on a string, totally controlled by Timothy. While everyone at church thinks he walks on water, Yolanda knows the person behind the mask. His constant verbal tirades, physical and emotional abuse has become unbearable. In walks Andre Hunter. He’s the type of man that can make any woman forget all her troubles. His chocolate skin, pearly whites, and beautiful smile enthrall Yolanda. She has never entertained the idea of infidelity, but the abuse and lack of intimacy at home makes her adulterous affair justifiable in her mind. Andre gives Yolanda everything she’s missing at home- respect, conversation, and passion behind closed doors. But, Andre is hiding secrets of his own. Will Yolanda finally climb from the abyss of despair she’s lived in with Timothy and move to a brighter tomorrow with Andre? Or will she forever remain “The Sunday Morning Wife?”

The Sunday Morning Wife Book Reviews

The outward appearance is the mask that we wear. What we observe is only the superficial appearance, but God sees the internal part of everyone!, “The Sunday Morning Wife” is a must read for anyone who has been or know someone who ever suffered abuse, but it is not  limited by that description, for it is much much more. Thank you, Pam D. Rice for allowing God to direct you to write ‘Sunday Morning Wife” partake much more than just the story of Yolanda Clarke, lost in domestic violence. I appreciated you for reminding us of the faithfulness of Our Lord Jesus Christ and for reminding us to daily draw our strength through Him, in all circumstances. I found this book  an awesome read. It is not only a great read for those who have been physically, emotionally, & spiritually damaged (especially by individuals who proclaim to be Christians), but it is also a great read for anyone who has ever lost their faith, felt not good enough, or who has lost the strength to lift up their hands in prayer and praise the Lord in advance. Pam wants to reminds the readers that God is a God of forgiveness and of wholeness. We are minister through the narrative that we must not allow other’s to control our lives and that we must never stop calling upon the name of Jesus, even when we may feel that He does not hear our prayers or when we may fee that we are unworthy. The messages in “The Sunday Morning Wife” gives instructions toward us to  “They Wait upon the Lord,” for He is ever present and will always answer in His time. It also teaches each of us to examine thy self  in the mirror and reflect upon who we are as Christians. Are we someone who encourage our brothers & sisters in Christ, or do we work to tear them down? This story reminds us that as Christians we are to “empower” those around us with the Love of God that has been placed upon our hearts, ever loving and ever forgiving, never casting stones or spreading hurtful words. you never know what someone is going through. Awesome book filled with many, many life lessons!

“The Sunday Morning Wife” should be a wake up call for everyone especially the so-called Church Folks. When I read the first page of this book, I was so angry how Yolanda Clarke was mistreated by her husband Pastor Timothy Clarke and the Congregation of Bright Star Temple. Most of them knew that Timothy was a dog. He abused his wife on a daily basis physically and mentally. He cheated on Yolanda with the Church Clerk. He stole money from his wife and gave it to his mistress. God doesn’t like ugly especially from the Man of God. I believe God sent Andre into Yolanda’s life in the purpose not only love her for who she is. Andre shows Yolanda that she doesn’t deserve the abused that she is receiving from Timothy.  Timothy’s father beat on his mother and him for years and now he is doing the same thing to his wife. Yolanda tried to help Tara by counseling her and encourage Tara to leave Brian. When Tara finally decided to divorce Brian, he ends up murdering Tara. Timothy blamed Yolanda for Tara’s death but actually it really was Brian and Pastor Clarke for Tara’ death. Timothy was just a hypocrite and shouldn’t never been a Pastor. When Yolanda finally decided to leave her husband, Timothy beat her in his office and tried his best to kill her but God was her protection. Ms. Loleather is the kind of Church Folks, you will want to stay away from. She will gossip your business to the Congregation just like she did to Yolanda Clarke. She have the nerve to judge Yolanda for her shortcoming when Ms. Loleather have skeletons in her own closet. She even wish Yolanda’s baby died. That isn’t Christ-like at all. Church Folks always judging others for their sin and acted like they were Holy all of their lives. We as the Church need to restoring one another in love, and uplifting our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ(New or Season Believers). It is time to address the issues that Domestic Violence is not acceptable at all whether the abuse is done by men or women. Yes Men are victims of Domestic Violence. I read a book this past summer “Men Do Cry” by Elois Thomas. I recommend everyone to read that book as well. I finished reading my copy of this book in three days and it was really really a life lesson about Domestic Violence. The sequence in this narrative was awesome, the plot as a page-turner were unbelievable. The way Pamela didn’t prolong events in the book and went straight to the point  was marvelously. I can’t stain reading a book and having to skip thru pages to get to the good part. I definitely didn’t have to do that with this book; I was looking forward to read what was on the next page. After completing the book, I went back and read certain parts again just to reflect on what the author had written. Although this book is a fiction book with a Christian theme, the author captivated my mind with such a real yet unbelievable situation that makes you comprehend. It leaves you comprehend many things:

  • 1) You never know what people are going through behind closed doors. We as Christians need to stop judging and casting stones.
  • 2) People are not always who they portray themselves as being. Some have a deadly secrets.
  • 3) If you are in a relationship, what’s your place…1,2,3?
  • 4) Who do we can really depend on  in time of need?

And Finally The Key Point!

  • 5) If we just learn to be patient, things will work themselves out for the good.
